ACR Health has started a syringe exchange program in Utica
to reduce the spread of HIV and hepatitis C among injection drug users.
Officials
said the New York State Department of Health asked ACR Health to expand
its Safety First Syringe Exchange Program from it Syracuse office to
its Utica office.
The program provides new,
sterile syringes and other injection supplies to registered
participants who inject legal or illicit drugs. It also safely disposes
of used syringes.
